This application was originally written to assist the compilation of Bible evaluation information prepared by students in an undergrad level "Bible Manuscripts and Translations" class at an independent Bible College in the Pacific Northwest. It was originally written in software that was available and supported at the time, but has since gone outdated and has been replaced by more capable software development environments.
The evaluation principles applied here were developed by the instructor of the class. I don't know if he based the process on someone else's approach or if he came up with it himself. The basic idea is that a verse in the Bible is studied in the original language, applying accepted hermeneutic principles. Then, based on information compiled in that study, various translations are read and rated as to their accuracy, completeness and faithfulness to the original meaning.
The application was only used for one semester before the Bible college crumbled under the weight of sin within the eldership and the church associated with it. However, I believe the principles used there are still sound and can be used to evaluate, rate and rank translations in their faithfulness to the Word of God.
